It contains almost all the important car engine production bases no matter which belong local automotive group (like SAIC, DFAC, FAW, BAIC, GAC…), or foreign automotive brand (like GM, VW, Ford, Toyota…), or independent component company like Cummins, Weichai.
From this map, we can see that when local automotive brands focus on shift their fuel efficiency and expanding their engine product line, foreign brands usually continue their localization of engine production. For example, Ford began the construction of its new engine plant in Chongqing with Chinese partner Chana Group in 2011.
